Hunting--- It's finally Over
I got up at 3:00 a.m. this morning to go hunting again as I was off work again this week and just 25 minutes after getting to my stand my dog showed up in the field and laid down right in the middle of the field waiting on me to head home. My dog finally left the field but headed off into the brush right where the deer should have come out. After approximately 2 hours of seeing nothing again this morning I decided to call it a day and head for home. My dog then came out of the brush and followed me home where he stayed the rest of the day. Due to these problems as well as my work stress I've decided that I'm going to pull all my stands out of the woods this coming weekend and give up hunting for good. I'll be selling my stands and all my equipment sometime in the near future. As for all my writings here on both my websites I'll be stopping on this as well since there are very few people reading them and will continue to comment on everyones sites till the end of the deer hunting season at the first of the year. All my articles will be deleted after the end of the season as well. I would like to thank each and everyone of you here at the " Bloggers Summit " and the rest of the folks in our little circle of writers for all the great comments, articles, photos and stories that you have shared with me as it has really done me alot of good and has been so heart felt and warming. It is with sad regret that I feel like giving up hunting but is thought to be the best thing for me to do at this point in my life. Again THANK YOU ALL very much for allowing me into your little circle of writers and I'll stay in touch through your comment boards till the first of the year.

hello???
a bad year starting, but do not give up. Put your dog in the house to start with and it is time to concentrate on finding some new lands to hunt. You must know about a zillion people and a few would have good huntable land not overrun with people.
Well, if it's not fun anymore then maybe taking a break is the right thing to do.
But think about why it's not fun, and see if there's something you can do to change it? I just hate to see another hunter bailing out of the sport.
Maybe focus on taking the youngsters out. Switch back to small game or birds, and regenerate.
We'd hate to lose ya.
Don't give up mate. And even if you do 'take a break' dont delete your writing. Please, pretty please.

I'll second what the others have said. Even if you don't actively hunt, you still have a lot to say about hunting and the outdoors. Keep the blogs alive!
If you are not going to hunt, I think a good idea is to post comments (maybe a web site) for young people to read. You could give them your experiences about hunting, tricks of the trade, safety tips, and conservation. thhink about it.
Don't give up....just put the dog in the house like editor said. Give yourself another chance....hunting gets in your blood. Hang in there, OK?
Please don't go! I just got here!
which all bows you use? i love recurve bows

C'mon Dude! Don't quit now.
I've had the same feelings you're having now about both hunting and blogging. Blogging can be work, and it doesn't hurt to take a break. Buy why delete everything? You never know when you might want to get back into it.
As far as hunting, I had been having an extremely disappointing season until last week when a buck just came out of nowhere while I was preparing to get in my stand. I shot him of course, and since then my outlook has improved dramatically.
Good luck whatever you decided to do.
David,
If I may, allow me a moment to perhaps dissuade you from leaving our ranks.
Taking a break may be an appropriate endeavor, as you just might have to clear some cobwebs from the old noggin.
You might want to go back and review your work and try to edit it, or maybe just rewrite the whole thing if it does not meet your expectations.
Hunting is all about the experience (at least for me...) The preparations take almost as long as the hunting does. How well are you preparing? How about mentally?
I have bouts of non productivity and bursts of creativity. I think that is about par for the course for us mortals. You may be in some sort of doldrums, but it passes as all things do.
Read other's stuff and get inspired!

The Hunt Continues...
Wow... never knew about this blog until just now, and still very sorry to see you throwing in the towel on hunting and blogging.
Hell, I just *started* hunting (age 38) ... I guess if there's no redeeming aspects of hunting, then why do it...
But surely there's some version of hunting or something about it...? I donno... Don't mean to poke my nose in. Maybe I am still starry eyed about hunting, not having seen much of the downsides yet...? I am just so fascinated to be outside in fall/winter, watching animals, whatever else... *shrug* maybe that is just dumb, but... ?

I hope you do not give up your hunting. I think your writing is good and by all means if it is too much work for you to continue to share your writing then by all means do not do it, but I would not delete it because some day you may want to come back to it.
I found that I get a ton of therapy by writing and will continue to do it for as long as I can.
Hunting... We all have bad years where nothing seems to go right but that being said you are still getting out there experiencing gods great wonders.... Look around you and realize how beautiful this world is and remember to enjoy it.
